Memorial services for Jack Edwin Alvis, 50, of Champaign will be at 3:00 pm Tuesday at Mansfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 pm Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Alvis died at 1:00 am Thursday, Aug 29, 1996, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

He was born Jan 18, 1946 in Urbana, s/o Joseph and Mildred Hannah Alvis. Survivors include his father of Champaign; a daughter, Joe Angela White, Ft Wayne IN; a brother, Jimmy Joe Alvis, Champaign; and two sisters: Jo Ann Gust, Warrenville, and Jeanine McHenry, Villa Grove. He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.

Mr. Alvis was employed by GATX of Bloomington. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School and a Marine veteran. He was a member of Mansfield United Methodist Church and the Lions Club. He was past commanded of American Legion Post 650.
