Mary Alice was my cousin and will always have a special spot in my heart. Her mother, Maude Gossett, was my Daddy's oldest sister. Mary Alice was a homemaker, loving mother and wife. She loved her children with a passion, and did not hesitate to tell you about them. Before she became a wife and mother, she was a nurse. I will also remember her as being one of the smartest businesswomen that I have known. When anyone needed anything she and Gene were there, quietly doing many a good deed. When I needed her, she was right there. In her quiet way, telling me what needed to be done, and she was so right. So this wonderful, Christian woman is going to be missed. I loved hearing her tell how she and Gene met. Mary was a member of the Apostolic Temple Church.
Mary Alice was the mother of Becky, Helen and David, and Nanny to five grandchildren. Mary was the sister of Lena, Thelma Ann, Luther Jr, Sue, Doris, Betty Jean, Catherine Ruth, Richard and John Robert.

Funeral Services for Mary Alice Cathey will be held Friday, June 19, 2015 in the Callaway Allee Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
