Billie Jo was born December 16, 1935 in Houston County to parents, Oscar Bryan Nichols and Gertrue Johnson Nichols. She was a member of the DRT and DAR, webmaster for Texas TSA and worked for the Welfare Department. Billie Jo was a master genealogist for multiple counties and retired as an Income Tax Preparer. She served as mayor of Latexo form 1988 to 1998 and was also a member of the Latexo Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by husband of 61 years, Donald Lee Bennett of Latexo; son, Michael Bennett and wife, Anita of Pearland; daughter, Charlotte Bennett Leitschuh and husband, Troy of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Chris Bennett of League City, Brittany Bennett of Cypress, Ashley Bennett Leitschuh of Ft. Worth, Brooke Wilson Leitschuh and Lauren Nicole Leitschuh of Ft. Worth; sister, Sue Nichols Hawhee of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Gertrue Nichols. Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Jo Nichols Bennett will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bill Jones and Mr. Eugene Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Latexo Cemetery.
