Mrs Maude Gossett, age 88 of May, passed away Friday, February 28, 2003 in the Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Mrs Gossett was born on January 28, 1915 in Leon County to the late John Robert and Ima Lee Jennings Johnson and had lived in May for the past 30 years. Mrs Gossett married Luther Bryant Gossett on September 26, 1933 in Crockett. Mrs Gossett was a homemaker and a member of The Church of God.

Survivors include her sons Luther Bryant Gossett,Jr. and wife Pat, of Palestine, Richard Gossett of May; daughters Lena Lawson of May, Mary Cathey and husband Gene of Pasadena, Thelma Lanigan,Elgin; Helen Frances Jones and husband, James of Huntsville, AR, Doris Baldwin and husband Glen of Stanton; daughter in law, Dona Belle Gossett of Henderson; seventeen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; brothers Ed Johnson and wife LeQuana; Durwood Johnson and wife Patsy, and Paul Johnson all of Crockett;sister Henrietta Johnson McFall of Crockett; sister in law, Hazel Johnson of Crockett; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by her husband, Luther Bryant Gossett,Sr; daughters Katherine Ruth and Betty Jean Gossett;son John Robert Gossett;grandson Will Lawson;grandaughter Joni Lynn Gossett; infant grandaughters Kathy and Rose Mary Lawson;parents John Robert and Ima Lee Jennings Johnson; brothers Frank, Tommie,and Dude Johnson; sister Lena Pearl Owen; sister in law, Lucille Johnson and Dylis Johnson and father in law, Thomas Madison Gossett.

Funeral services for Mrs Maude Gossett were held Tuesday, March 4, at 2:00p m in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev David Taylor officiating. Interment followed in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
