Hydie was a son of the late Peter Bartow Robinson and Sarah Wienges Robinson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Stack Robinson. He graduated from St. Matthews High School and attended Clemson University. He joined the United States Army Air Corps and served during WW II from 1941 through 1945. He was a member of St. Matthews Presbyterian Church. He was a retired farmer of approximately 35 years, and continued working after that time for Spigner Brothers Auto Service until the age of 86 when he was forced to retire due to hip surgery.
He was predeceased by his twin brother, Peter Bartow Robinson, Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Doris Ellen Robinson Hane and Sarah Wienges Robinson; two grandchildren, William Hydrick Hane and Spann Argoe; two great-grandchildren, Adam Robinson Hane and Daniel William Hane; brother, Hugh F. Robinson of Columbia, and one step-grandchild, Jay Argoe.
