Zack wasn't even 2 lbs when he came to live with me. He was a little bundle of fuzz in a cage and when I walked by he stuck his paw out and grabbed me. I guess he wanted me to know I was supposed to take him home.
Zack slept with me at night; next to my body with my arm around him. When he felt it was time for breakfast, he licked my eyelids and started yelling. I nearly started yelling too; that hurt! But the others depended on him to get me moving.
As he got older, his kidneys started to fail. We did what we could for him, but on Friday he wasn't bugging me to feed him every 3 hours, and he didn't come down for breakfast on Saturday. So Saturday I took him to the vet. His doc wasn't there, but another one did blood work and x-rays. His kidney values had skyrocketed off the charts and the x-rays showed a HUGE kidney. Just 4 months ago he was doing fine.
I took him in today to see his doc. He's at the Bridge now with his sisters Sadie & Zoey, and he's meeting Missy & Max for the first time. I'm sure he's reminding them all that he's the boss.
My heart is broken. After all these years I can't believe he's really gone.
