Mary Ida Elizabeth Hayes Bugg was known as "Ida." She was the wife of Lon Jackson Bugg, and the daughter of John Casel Hayes and Christena "Teney" Elizabeth Haynes.

Ida and Lon Jackson had ten children: Reba, Thomas William Jr., Juliett, Madge, Leota, Lon Hayes, Lila Annis, Ruth, John Paul, and Inez. They made their home in the Sebastian community of Maness until they were removed for the establishment of Camp Chaffee. Their old homeplace is now the location of the Janet Huckabee Nature Center.

Lon Jackson died in 1954 leaving Ida a widow. After his death, Ida lived her remaining years in the Barling Arkansas home of her daughter, Leota.

Ida passed in 1968. Funeral services were held at Unity Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Wednesday, May 29th, 1968, at 2:00 pm. Interment was at Steep Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Harold Walker conducted the services. Pall bearers were Glen Lackey, Harold Thames, Bob Caviness, Julua Demeter, Bill Bridges, Lon Willhite, T.W. Willhite, Jack Harris, Bobby J. Caperton, and Bill Moon. In addition to her children, Ida had 24 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren, at the time of her death.

Ida, her husband, Lon Bugg, and all of her children, with the exception of Inez and Leota, are buried at Steep Hill Cemetery in Sebastian County, Arkansas.

Mary Ida Elizabeth's memorial was established in tribute to her life and in loving memory.
