Paul was re-united with his beloved Julia on February 4th.

After graduating from UCLA, Paul enlisted in the Army in 1946, and then went on to become a diplomat to Pakistan. After the service he worked for The American Can Co./Dixie Foodservice as an executive manager. He was a mentor and teacher to many in the business, and his legacy will be remembered for years to come.

When he retired in 1987, he and Julia relocated from Foster City to San Diego. In retirement, Julia worked in volunteer nursing, and Paul became very passionate in working with the homeless, especially in teaching Life Skills Classes to help people re-enter the workforce. [He co-founded Real Life Skills in San Diego, a lasting legacy of helping the homeless.]

Paul is survived by two sons, Dean and David, five grandchildren and two great-grand- children. One grandchild, Travis Dave Ghizzone, died in 2021.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Chet; two sisters, Helen and Pat; and one great-grandson, Anthony Paul Ghizzone.

We will all miss his high spirit, sense of humor and endless supply of jokes. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to PUMSD.ORG in him memory.

Letter from Paul's son David:

Dear friends;

It is with much sadness that I must inform you of the passing of my dad, Paul Ghizzone. He passed away quietly early Wednesday morning following what appears to be a heart attack, while at coffee with friends on Tuesday morning. For several years now, I know that he cherished these times of "coffee with friends", but as we all know, it was not about the "coffee". He seldom missed a day, and even went twice a day when able. I believe he would probably have had it no other way.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to you all for the friendship you all felt toward my father, I DO know how very, very special that was to him. He lived for it.

We will all miss his high spirit, sense of humor, and encyclopedia of jokes.

He is now with his beloved Julia.

There will be a celebration of Paul's life, in the Watermark 5th floor community room, on Feb. the 21st at 4:30 PM. Along with my boys, Travis and Jace, we look forward to seeing you and sharing your stories.

In lieu of flowers, information about Paul's favorite charity will be available at the celebration and contributions can be accepted at that time if you wish.

God bless, and thank you all so much.
