Michael died at home in the early morning of May 21, 2015 with his family present.

He was born in Glendale, CA on June 30, 1939 to Catherine E & William E Harmuth. Because his father was in the Navy he lived in several places during his childhood years including Connecticut, Virginia, New Orleans, Hawaii, and Chicago. Michael went to St. Mary's High School in Kenosha WI.

In 1957, he returned to California to attend Loyola University in Los Angeles. He graduated with a BS in Electronic Engineering in 1962. He joined the Air Force as a 2nd Lt. and on Oct 3, 1962 Michael married Mardelle Frances Brown (b: Jul 1, 1941) in Los Angeles, California.

In 1974, he received a MS in Telecommunications Management. His Air Force career of Communications Electronics Systems Staff Officer took him all over the world.

During his time in the AF, he was awarded Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Vietnam Service Medal. After he retired from the AF, he worked for Martin Marietta which later merged with Lockheed and became known as Lockheed Martin. He worked there for 20 years and while there was awarded the CIA Balkans Service Medallion.

Michael worked at Oakland Diocese Outreach Ministry with LGBT Catholics and their Families & at Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation. He served on the Board of Directors at Fortunate Families. Michael also worked at Immaculate Conception Academy, San Francisco.

Michael is survived by his loving wife and their children: Elizabeth (Sean), Sean (Heather), Heather (Stacey), Brennan (Nancy), Sarah (Tom); and Michael's brother Jim, and his wife Mary.
