Alexander L. Stayboldt Bozzette 1990 - 2016 San Diego

Alex Bozzette passed away on 1 February 2016 in Burlington, VT, at the age of 25. He was a wonderful son, brother, stepson, and friend to many. He was born in San Diego, CA, where he attended High Tech High. He graduated from Georgetown University in 2012 with a major in Science, Technology and International Affairs. While there, he traveled to six countries on three continents under a grant from the Circumnavigators Club Foundation to study policy on drug resistant tuberculosis. He then attended the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, graduating in 2014 with a Master of Science in Public Health-Health Promotion.

He served as Project Coordinator for the Alma Sana Project in Ecuador and worked under a Global Health Corps Fellowship for the Population Media Center (PMC) in Burundi, East Africa. Recently, he became Coordinator for Share-Net Burundi and a Program Manager for PMC Burlington, VT, where he also regularly volunteered at a soup kitchen.

His motto was, "Everyone everywhere deserves to be healthy." Alex' life was packed with adventure, love, wisdom and generosity. His enjoyment of exotic food, culture, music and people was coupled with a love for the outdoors, an eye for design, and a deep concern for the oppressed. He designed websites for friends and causes including Continuing the Conversation on Racism, San Diego (www.talkrace.org).

The Alex Bozzette Fund at Population Media Center has been established to continue his work.
