Louise Yvonne Marshall passed away January 2, 2017 of natural causes. Born on October 11, 1921, she was the second child of Elmer and Jane Brinning in Oakland, Oregon.
Elmer worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and the family transferred from Oakland, Oregon to Kennett, California (now under Lake Shasta) until the early 1930's when Shasta Dam was completed. The family then moved to Mt. Shasta where Louise attended Mt. Shasta Elementary and Mt. Shasta High Schools, graduating in 1940.
Shortly after graduation she married James Harley McArron on June 15, 1941. They adopted a son, James Michael McArron and a daughter, Karen Sue McArron in the early 1950's. Louise and Harley were married for 51 wonderful years; 43 of which he worked for McCloud River Lumber Company. Harley died in August 1992.
On a blind lunch date in 1993, (set-up by some mutual friends) she became reacquainted with Wallace "Bob" Marshall whom she had worked with during her years with the Forest Service. Their love story began that day and they married on November 26. 1994. During their 22 years together they were inseparable; they traveled extensively and enjoyed friends and family far and near. Their fondness and devotion to one another could be felt by all who knew them.
Louise worked for the US Forest Service in the 1940's until she and Harley started their family. After a few years she went to work for the old McCloud Steam Laundry and later the Weed Laundry. She drove that ole laundry truck over old Highway 89 from McCloud to old Highway 99 and onto Dunsmuir; Mt. Shasta; Weed and back to McCloud on a weekly basis. She is still remembered for her efficiency, tenacity and kindness during those years.
Louise's talents were numerous. She was a quilter, an artist, a seamstress, an embroider, a knitter, a Boy and Girl Scout mother, a member of many civic and philanthropic organizations including the McCloud Garden Club and the Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens to name a few. She touched and inspired so many people during her lifetime. She made and kept lifelong friends close to her and each day she would make a new one. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Jane Brinning, her two husbands, Harley and Bob, her older sister Lois Frey of Stockton, and her younger brother Edward Brinning of Roseburg, Oregon.
She is survived by her sister, Gerry Henry of Stockton; her son and wife, Mike and Ellen McArron of Dunsmuir and her daughter Karen McArron of Anderson; her grandson Paul McArron and wife Yvette of Anaheim, her granddaughter Vanessa and husband Aaron Burger of Burney. She is also survived by great-grandsons Aaron and Brodie Burger of Burney, step-granddaughter LaiLoni Zeccola and great-grandson Kristopher Wolfe of Fremont, step-grandson Todd Duarte and step-great grandsons Gregory, Stephen and Alexander Duarte of Dunsmuir and her step-son-in-law and wife Mike and Rose Marshall of Petaluma and their daughters, Michelle Marshall, Nicole and her husband Christopher Mainaris and great grandson Alexander Mainaris of Petaluma. Step-daughter in-law Merrie Ann Marshall of Santa Rosa, step-grandchildren Robert and wife Stacy Marshall, step-great granddaughter Lauren and step-great grandson Robbie Marshall and step-granddaughter Heather Mariano and step great granddaughters Grace and Rosie and step-great grandson Roman. Louise is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob and Louise will have graveside services at the McCloud Cemetery in the late spring. In lieu of flowers a donation to Siskiyou County Hospice would be appreciated or a charity of your choice.
