The end of a remarkable, and truly wonderful life came to a peaceful end a little after 11:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017. Fortunately, his oldest son, Frank, and his granddaughter, Heather, along with her fiancee were able to be with him as he moved on to a better place. Frank was born in Wilbraham, MA on February 14, 1927 and named Francis Michael Conti by his parents, Maria and Nazzareno Conti. He was their third, and youngest son. Frank grew up in Springfield, MA attending local schools before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He shipped out of Pearl Harbor heading toward the South Pacific passing through the area where the USS Indianapolis was sunk by a Japanese submarine just a few weeks later. He was stationed on the island of Guam. After the war, he returned to Springfield attending and graduating from American International College with a degree in Business Administration. He met and married Dorina (Doris) Pascucci, who was the love of his life. They were married in 1951 and moved to South Hadley, MA and had four children. Frank and Doris bought and operated a bar and restaurant in South Hadley Falls, named the 'Beechwood'. Afterwards they built and ran a bar and banquet facility on Route 202 in South Hadley, named 'Conti's 202'. After many years of successfully operating that business, and making many business acquaintances and numerous friends, they sold the business and retired. Frank however, always the worker, opened and operated a used car business in South Hadley. He was a Patriots, and Red Sox fan, and was an avid card player, especially enjoying Cribbage. Frank loved the outdoors, and spent many happy hours with his brother, Dino, and many others, fishing, and hunting Pheasants, and Rabbits with his Beagles. He was also elected Assessor in town, holding that office for many years and regularly garnered the largest number of votes cast for town wide offices. He was still holding that office when he died. His wife, Doris, to whom he was married for 64 years, predeceased him. The urn containing Frank's cremated remains were placed on top of his wife, Dorina's, burial vault in the area approximately over her heart. Frank was 90 years old when he died. He will be missed.
