Edna G. Tinney, age 99 of Broken Arrow passed away Thursday, December 15, 2005 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Edna was born on September 18, 1906 to George and Mary (Colver) McClure in Sterling, Kansas. After receiving her education Edna went on to marry Earl Haskell Tinney on June 10, 1931 in Liberal, Kansas. Edna worked as a homemaker, and was a wonderful wife and loving mother to her husband and five daughters. She was a kind and patient woman, who enjoyed looking after her children and many grandchildren. Edna enjoyed sewing, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, cooking special treats for her grandchildren, and writing poetry. Edna was a former P.T.A. President, two years in a row while her children were in school. She was also recognized as the first woman Elder of a Presbyterian Church at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Arrow, where she was also a choir member for many years. Edna and Earl were also members of the Presbyterian Church in Wagoner while living in Wagoner, before moving back to Broken Arrow. Edna enjoyed lending a helping hand wherever there was a need within her family or her church family. Above all Edna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her loss will be felt by the many people blessed to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary McClure; her husband Earl Tinney; brothers Ralph and Ernest McClure and two sisters: Mildred Belcher and Twila Stucky.

Left to cherish her memory are her five daughters: Janice Thompson and her husband Bob, Wanda Tinney, Norma Anderson, Carolyn Lee and her husband Jim all of Broken Arrow, OK, and Lavon Thomas of Sand Springs, OK; eleven grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who are sure to miss her.
