Benjamin was named for Rev Benjamin Gaston Covington He was Bens fathers first cousin who performed many of the marriages and funeral services for our family. He wedded my great grandparents Thomas Jefferson Covington and Sarah "Ella" Capel. Rev. Ben's wife Annie E Capel and my great grandmother Ella were half sisters.

Bens father John A. Covington and my and 2nd great grandfather Terrell Covington were brothers.

Bens mother, Marthena Chappell and my 2nd great grandmother Eranda Chappell were sisters.
Bens parents moved from Richmond County, NC in the mid 1850's along with Wilson Covington, eldest brother of John and Terrell. John and Wilson can be found living together on the 1860 census in Tippah,MS.

Ben married Sophia L Carruth May 2, 1878 in Phillips County, Arkansas. They had 2 children together, Benjamin & Corrie They also have a half sister Rachel Howell whose father was Joseph L. Howell.

I have sponsored this memorial because I had to put alot of time and research into this branch of my family tree. I wanted to make it easier for other family members who are researching this family as well. Thank you to all the findagrave members who created the memorials for our family members.

I would especially like to thank Patrick Whitney who has went out of his way to help me on a number of occasions and has added photos for quite of a few of the memorials I have requested photos for.
