Julie Panos Gilbert, 80, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 1, at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Freeto officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.
Julie was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late George and Jessie Panos. She graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn. She married Joe Gilbert in Syracuse, N.Y. in 1952 and after Joe's discharge from the U.S. Air Force, they moved to Waco. Julie was a long time employee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and retired in 1991. She was a charter member of Central United Methodist Church in Waco.
Julie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Joe; daughters, Linda Storer and husband, Terry, Jo Lynn Davis and husband, Johnny; and son, Kenneth Gilbert and wife, Billie; grandchildren that she loved so very dearly, Emily Storer, Jonathan Storer, Andrew Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Courtney Wood and Tyler Davis; and one precious great-granddaughter, Remy Gilbert.
