Lenora was the third child of nine born to Absolom E. Hurt and Cynthia Ann Ball. Both of them lived in Swords Creek, Russell, Virginia and both come from Royal ancestry. She had 2 brothers and six sisters. Lenora married Glenn Blenkarn Hughey on 27 Jul 1929 by a woman preacher in Angola, Indiana. They moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where her husband worked at Kellogg's for 39 years until he retired. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters:

LENORA E. HUGHEY

Lenora E. (Hurt) Hughey, 82, of 310 Westbrook Ave., died Tuesday in the Arrowood Nursing Center, where she had been a patient two years. She was born in Swords Creek, Va., and came to Battle Creek when she worked at the Kellogg Co. during summer break from her studies at Berea College, Berea, KY. She attended the Family Altar Chapel. She is survived by her husband, Glenn B. Hughey; sons, Ralph W. of 257 N. 23rd St., G. Raymond of the Westbrook Ave. address; and Marvin L. Hughey of Mishawaka, Ind,; daughters, Mrs. Jose (Barbara) Tijerina of 199 Gregg Drive, and Mrs. John (Joyce) Holder of 33 Columbine Lane; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Dulcie West or 130 Sharon Ave., Mrs. Ollie Boyd of Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Mrs. Flossie Gideon of Pittsburg, Kan; and a brother, Orville Hurt of Baltimore, Md. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Farley Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Family Altar Christian School."
