CARROLL--John B. W. Carroll lived in this world of sunshine and shadow from November 29, 1823, to June 15, 1895, nearly seventy-two years. Since then he is enjoying the rest which remains to the people of God, in that land "where there is no night." In 1845 he was happily married to Miss Mary A. Baker. They journeyed together forty-eight years. Sister Carroll died about two years ago. Her joyous Christian life was a benediction to her husband and children. In 1854 Brother Carroll was converted. He was ploughing in his field when the Lord found him. Quickly he came home to "tell what great things the Lord had done for him." Forty-one years he lived a useful Christian life in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Thirty years of it he was a steward. The poor found a friend in him. He was a good husband and a kind father. The last two years of his life he was a member at Summerville, Ga. While his health allowed, he was in his place at all times. During his last illness I found him always conscious of his acceptance with God. Five children remain to mourn his loss, but "they weep not as those who have no hope." "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord; Yea, saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors."
