Eva Mae Townsend Bethea, was called from labor to her reward on July 24, 2015 at Shore Memorial Hospital at the age of 91.
Eva was born to the late General Townsend and Queen Ella Ingram in Dillon S.C. on March 16, 1924. There she attended the public schools. Later in life she met and married the love of her life, James Bethea. From that union two sons were born, Charles and Randolph. The family relocated to Jersey City, NJ and a short time later they made their home in Atlantic City, NJ.
Eva united with the Second Baptist Church where she joined and served on the Usher Board for many, many years.
Eva is predeceased by: her husband, James; father, General Townsend; mother, Queen Ella; her sons, Charles and Randolph Bethea; brothers, Robert and Leroy Crawford; and sisters, Catherine Crawford and Frances Thompson.
She is survived by and leaves to cherish fond memories; brother, John Smith (Helen) of Phoenixville, Pa.; two grandsons, Randoph Bethea Jr. of Bingham, NY; and Michael Bethea (Tia) of Atlanta, Ga; two granddaughters, Chlease Letman of Elizabeth, NJ and Regina Bethea of Greenboro, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends.
