Have a problem with this memorial. So working on breaking it down. Perhaps some family will come up with the correct answer.

I have two sources and two names.

Greene County, Missouri Cemeteries - Volume IX St. Mary's Cemetery page 140 by Ozarks Genealogical Society.
" BACH Mary Ann 3 Mar - 3 Apr 1952"

Missouri death certificate # 7969 Name: Patricia Bach DOB March 3 1952 DOD April 3 1952 . Length of stay in community, Life. Died in St. John's Hospital. Usual address was on S. Holland St. in Springfield. Occupation has INFANT in the box. Birthplace Springfield, MO. and same for Death place. Parents shown as R P and Patty Pickering and the informant was R P Bach. Cause was pulmonary edema and congenital cerebral maldevelopment. E J Schwartz M. D. Interred in St. Mary Cem. Springfield, MO. H.H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.

When an edit and problem was called to my attention this Sept. 2018 then needed to find out the problem/s. At first I thought a possible case of twins. I would need to contact the cemetery office.

St. Mary's Cemetery Office records indicated Mary Ann Bach. and named the parents as R R Bach and Patty Pickering. Their records did not list any Patricia.

The death certificate shows H H Lohmeyer Funeral Records. I was told by the man on the phone he had the H H Lohmeyer funeral records. He looked at them and they show Patty Bach. Those records did not have any Mary Ann.

The Missouri death certificate does not show this as a twin, nor is there any record of a Mary Ann and the cemetery does not show Patricia, then Lohmeyer Funeral home does not show Mary Ann either, that leads us to think perhaps the name of the mother was picked up by error and put in for the name of the child. The name error on D.C. or the man at the cemetery office says possible the child was named Mary Ann Patricia or some combination and I also mention to them I have known errors to be made they could have picked up the mothers name on the death certificate and placed there, as not anyone caught the name of Mary Ann. I have known for families to not name a child for several months....different reasons. Perhaps this is the case here, they did not want to name the baby as they was expecting the babe not to make it. The fact that by the time a monument was placed and burial completed they decided to give the baby a name and she would have a monument.

So family if you are out there and see this please help straighten up the memorial here. Is this Mary Patrica Ann Bach, Patricia Mary Ann Bach, Patricia Ann Back, or Mary Ann or some other combination. Was the error in the death certificate?

Cemetery office knows about the problem on here and before I hung up I told him how I would list the memorial on FindAGrave so they would not be surprised if a call should come in.
