Carol Jean Ames, 56, of Hagerstown, died on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital.

Born on November 16, 1952, she was the daughter of Helen R. (Emerick) House, of Hagerstown, and the late Dale Bernard Ames.

Jean was a graduate of the Boonsboro High School Class of 1970. She was an active participant in the Habitat for Humanity of Washington County Women's Build, where she served on the Auction Committee and was the acting Building Supervisor in 2008.

Ms. Ames was formerly employed for over 25 years as a Manager with Southland Corporation. Most recently she worked for Owens & Dove, Inc. Excavating Company in Manassas Park, Virginia.

Including her mother, Jean is survived by two sisters, Beverly A. Gillette of Sebring, Fl. & Kimberly S. Christo of Washington, DC; and one brother, Raymond L. Puglisi of Boonsboro, Md. She is also survived by many other siblings.

Jean was preceded in death by one brother, Anthony S. Puglisi.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rev. Sherry Miller will be officiating. A private interment service will be held at the convenience of the family at Boonsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, c/o the Women's Build - Jean Ames Memorial, 100 Charles Street, Hagerstown, Md., 21740.
