Mary is the daughter of Walter H. Thomas and Maggie Mae Thomas. She married Arthur Akins. Mary was a Retail Sales Manager.

Arthur L. AKINS was born in 7 March 1902 in Alliance, Ohio. He married Mary Ilene THOMAS, daughter of Walter H. THOMAS. They were known as Art and Ilene to their family. Following their honeymoon they lived with his mother at 30 East Market Street in Alliance. Art was a very good salesman and had a wonderful personality, though he had had a nervous breakdown sometime in the ‘40s. He also had to have a kidney removed. He and Ilene never had much money nor did they have any children. His brother Harold seemed to help them out from time to time, financially, even giving $25,000 to buy a house when they moved to Clearwater, Fl in the 1950's. They retired to Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, Fl. Ilene died on 30 April 1978 and is buried in the Alliance City Cemetery. Arthur died on 27 December 1992 in Kissimmee, Florida, and is buried in the Alliance City Cemetery. Arthur was the manager of Akins Auto Service in Alliance. He was a graduate of Alliance High School and of Mount Union College. He held membership in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. She was the manager of Canton's legendary department store, Stern and Mann Appointment Shop, traveling frequently to New York on buying trips for the store. Arthur and Mary had no children.
