Birth: 1752, England
Death: Aug. 24, 1817, England

Minister. Born in New­port, Mon­mouth­shire, Eng­land. He was educated for commercial pursuits, but subsequently became a Congregational Minister. He be­gan preach­ing at 22 years of age, and pas­tored at Rodbo­rough, Gloucestershire; Shef­field in 1783; Carr’s Lane Cha­pel, Birm­ing­ham in 1798; Rod­bo­rough Bap­tist Church in 1799; and the Liv­ery Street Cha­pel, Birm­ing­ham. His best known hymn is "Hail, Sovereign Love, that first began." A Memoir of him appeared in the Evangelical Register, in 1835. He died in Birmingham, England. (bio by: Shock)
