RENSSELAER, Ind. - Howard Everett ''Gus'' Gustafson, 79, of Rensselaer, Ind., died Sept. 3, 1999 at Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prairie Dell Cemetery in Iroquois. Cremation rites were accorded. The Rev. Allen Cheney officiated.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice.
Baier Funeral Home, Watseka, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gustafson was a lineman electrician for 40 years, a member of Local Union IBW 176.
He was born July 27, 1920 in Paxton, the son of Luther and Minnie Pierson Gustafson.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kathryn Auer, whom he married April 29, 1951 in Watseka; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Robert and Marjorie Gustafson of Arizona, Warren and Lois Gustafson of Rantoul and Dorothy Gustafson of Paxton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Alice, and brother, Allen, are deceased.
A veteran of World War II, he was a lieutenant in the Navy Air Force, UPB 128.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bird watching.
