After graduating Sheffield High School in 1956, he attended Florence State College and later the University of North Alabama. Frost served as an administrator, teacher, head basketball coach, and assistant principal in the Florence City School system for 23 years. His coaching career captured several state championships, and he was named Alabama Coach of the Year in 1976. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
