Mayor of Florence, Alabama who was elected to 5 consecutive terms from 1984 until 2001. His abilities as an organizer and leader, and his insight into positive change, helped steer the Muscle Shoals area through tough economic times during the early 1980's. Frost championed innovative changes to the city's ordinances and infrastructure, which in turn promoted retail expansion throughout the Florence area.
Born in Bounds, Mississippi, Eddie and his family moved to Sheffield, Alabama in 1942. After graduating Sheffield High School in 1956, he attended Florence State College and later the University of North Alabama. There, he earned degrees in physical education, history, administration and supervision. Frost served as an administrator, teacher, head basketball coach, and assistant principal in the Florence City School system for 23 years. His coaching career captured several state championships, and he was named Alabama Coach of the Year in 1976. He was inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
