Carl was one of five children of John Andrew & Hedwig "Hattie" (Landgraf) Altz.

Utica, MI was Carl's home all of his life.

Carl retired from Chrysler Corp. in the '70s after 25 years of employment as an engineer. He test drove tanks during World War II. Carl also worked for Packard Corp. as a test car driver, retiring in 1956.

He was a member of the Motor City Packard Club and a Golden Eagle member of the National Rifle Association.

Carl loved his dogs, Tuco and Tuco II, both terriers. He also enjoyed feeding the squirrels and vacationing every winter in Lake Worth, Florida where he would see his cousin Ruth (Kennedy) Hanneman.

On Sept. 8, 1981 Carl married his second wife Theresa B. Skelly. He is survived by his wife, Theresa; children, William (Peggy) Altz, Hattie (Chris) Rickert, Gloria Hook, Mike Perry, Maureen (Roy) Rotary, Michele (Mark) Cichon, Tim (Robin) Perry and Annesa (John) Schwiere; 28 grandchildren; 15 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Carl was predeceased by his first wife, Jean who died on 2 Jun 1974; parents, John and Hattie; sons, Carl Altz II, John Altz and Dennis (Kathy) Perry; brothers, Norman, Elmer and Maynard; and sisters, Gertrude and Vera.

Carl enjoyed life. Even though he was well into his 90s Carl would drive his car every year from Utica, Michigan to Lake Worth, Florida.
