This burial is in a section of Ft. Scott National Cemetery, with several Cherokee Indian veterans. According to the Tour Guide at Fort Scott, the Cherokee Indian custom was to name a newborn after the first thing seen by his elders. In this case it was a pregnant Indian woman. Therefore they named him Stick Out Belly. Appears to be a Civil War Casualty.
