Son of William R. & Emeline Berry. Born in Kentucky. To Newark, Knox County, Missouri 1856. Nephew of Cpl. James S. Berry of Knox County Missouri.
Married Susan Schemp in Missouri.
Lived in Nevada briefly, Census of 1880 hand script name indexed as E."Y" Berry. Civil war service Private in 50th Enrolled MO Militia in April 1864 also Federal 39th Missouri (Mounted) Infantry. His Company was fortunately assigned to guard the well protected railroad terminal in Macon Missouri September 1864 at the time of the annhilation of most of the 39th MO Regiment at Centralia MO September 27, 1864.
"Orchardist" in California 1900 US Census.
Died in 1908 driving a "Carryall" which ran off Mountain Road, with eighteen high school graduating students who were not seriously injured. Member of GAR.

Berry, a native of Kentucky, aged 62 years and 14 days. ... Interment Santa Clara."
