Sgt. 1st Class Anthony L. Woodham of Rogers, Arkansas joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1989. Though he was a stern leader, his caring personality equaled his eagerness to serve as a Soldier and to always treat people with respect, regardless of rank. To his younger soldiers he was a father figure who often put the needs of theirs in front of his own. He served in Iraq in 2004-05 and earned many military awards, including the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 2 and the Driver and Mechanic Badge. Anthony died of injuries suffered in a non-combat incident at Camp Adder, Tallil, Iraq at age 37. He is survived by his wife and three children.
