Artist. Associated with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes during its early days and later with Cocteau and the Surrealists. She is probably best known for her illustrations of Paul Eluard's poetry. She also designed the costumes for the classic film "The Passion of Joan of Arc" (1928) and appeared in Luis Bunuel's "The Golden Age" (1930). She was married to Jean Hugo, great-grandson of Victor Hugo.
