Kenneth Leon Hinkle
Services for Kenneth Leon Hinkle, 85, of Lucerne, will he held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Metea Baptist Church.
He died at 7:12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. 2005 in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 23, l921 in Young America, he was the son of Otto and Clara Estella Plank Hinkle. He was married Jan. 3, l958, at Indian Creek Church in Cass County to Donnnabelle Swank, who survives.
A 1939 graduate of Metea High School, Mr. Hinkle retired in 1985 as a machinist
for Federal-Mogul. He also worked for RBM and Logan Machine Company.
Kenneth was a veteran of' the U.S. Navy serving in World War II and in the Korean
War.
He and his wife were faithful volunteers in the yearly Twelve Mile Christmas Pageant.
He was a member, former deacon and Sunday school teacher for the Metea Baptist Church. He was a member of Fulton Masonic Lodge and a former Cub Scout Leader.
Kenneth enjoyed telling stories of his experiences during the war and he also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Also surviving are one daughter, Bonnie Moss and her husband, Denny, Twelve Mile; three sons, Ken Shaffer, Logansport; Keith Shaffer and his wife, Deborah, Meadville, Pa., and Jim Hinkle and his wife, Teresa, Twelve Mile; one brother, Everett Hinkle and his wife, Pa, Logansport; grandchildren, Elizabeth Thomas and her husband, Brent, and Sarah Pinkerton and her husband, Jake, all of Lafayette, Kyle Shaffer and Kevin Shaffer,
both of Logansport, Randi Nicole Shaffer and Robye Elaine Shaffer, both of Baton Rouge, La., Mala DeMarie DiLoreto, Meadville, Pa., and Noah James Hinkle, Twelve Mile; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Four brothers, Ray, Keith, Harold and Eugene Hinkle, and five sisters, Geneva
Griest-Leona Patterson; Donna Bell Harvey, Nancy Kunkle and Esteline Keplar,
preceded in death.
Brother Mike Cantrell and Pastor Michael Thompson will officiate at the services. Burial with full military rites will be in Metea Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm. and 6 to 8 p.m. today in Gundrum Funeral Home, and one hour before services Tuesday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity and to the Twelve Mile Christmas Pageant.
