From the "Boston Herald," (Boston, MA), 2 June 1924:
The funeral of Walter Guylian Scott Kennedy, formerly a resident of Worcester and later of Taormina, Sicily, who died yesterday at Cromwell, Ct., will be held....
For many years he was a music teacher in Worcester.
In 1911, when he was 63 years old, and about five years after he had finally left the United States to live in Italy, Mr. Kennedy received much publicity because of his marriage in Paris to Mrs. Ellen Frances Rogers, who was 67 years old and generally reputed to be the wealthiest woman in Worcester.
A few weeks before the ceremony was performed Mr. Kennedy and Mrs. Rogers sailed together on the Lusitania, accompanied by a cousin and a physician, and later they went to live at Taormina, where Mr. Kennedy had a villa.

From "The Worcester Telegram," - Dec. 20, 2006:
Tonight, for the first time in its 77-year history, the Rogers-Kennedy Memorial (The New England Settlers) at Elm Park will be illuminated.
City Manager Michael V. O’Brien will throw the switch for the new lighting equipment at 5:15 tonight during a special ceremony.
Illuminating the monument is the final element of the $525,000, three-year program by the Friends of the Rogers-Kennedy Memorial to restore the marker, located at Park Avenue and Highland Street.
Ground-level lights have been installed on all four sides of the monument. Additional remote lighting will set off the bronze sculpture on top of the base.
Officials said the lighting will beautifully present the memorial against the backdrop of nearby hemlocks, as well as adding to the safety of the area.
The Friends are still looking for an additional $120,000 in contributions for the monument’s maintenance endowment fund. Gifts of $1,000 or more will be listed on a permanent plaque that will be placed at the site.
The memorial, which was dedicated in 1929, was the gift of Ellen Rogers Kennedy and her husband, Walter Scott Kennedy.
