ALFRED J. O'BRIEN HOSPITAL RETIREE, WW II VET Watertown Daily Times (NY) - Saturday, May 19, 2001 Alfred J. O'Brien, 84, Annandale, Va., formerly of Old State Road, died Tuesday at Leewood Healthcare Center, Annandale.
Mr. O'Brien retired in 1972 after 35 years of service at the St. Lawrence State Hospital, Ogdensburg.
Born March 5, 1917, in Massena, son of Charles and Myrtle Smith O'Brien, he graduated from Massena High School in 1936 and from St. Lawrence School of Nursing, Ogdensburg, in 1941. Mr. O' Brien served in the Navy during World War II and received a Purple Heart for action in the Pacific theater.
He married Lois Latz in 1942 in Waukegan, Ill.
Mr. O'Brien was a member of the American Legion, Ogdensburg.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Linda Perrin, Bunnell, Fla.; a son, Alfred H., Annandale; a sister, Helen Blood, Massena, five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
A brother, Francis, and a great- granddaughter died before him.
The memorial service and inurnment will be in Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery . The body was cremated. Arrangements are with Everly Funeral Homes Inc., Fairfax, Va. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
