US Congressman, Wisconsin Governor. Elected to represent Wisconsin's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1961 to 1974. He was defeated in 1974. He also served as a Member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1935 to 1951, Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1939 to 1945, Wisconsin State Attorney General from 1951 to 1957, Governor of Wisconsin from 1957 to 1959 (defeated in 1958).
