Millard Seymour Fudge, one of the pioneer homesteaders of the Timber Lake vicinity passed away at his home near Timber Lake last Thursday evening, death resulting after an illness of several weeks duration and the usual infirmities of old age.
Deceased was born in Cedar County, Iowa, on January 24, 1870. His boyhood days were spent there and when he had reached the age of nine he moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Fudge, to Severy, Kansas, There he lived until 1893 when he was united in marriage to Miss Nora Furnish and to this union 11 children were born, They are Elmer, Everett, William, Alice, Letha, Roy, Mary, George, Frank, Tontie and Norine. Of these all excepting two, William and Letha, are living.
In 1910, he and his family moved to South Dakota, and settled on a homestead near Timber Lake, where he resided until his death on Thursday evening at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 19 days.
Mr. Fudge's life was one of helpfulness. He was loved and esteemed by his neighbors, and always ready and willing to be of assistance. His death will be keenly felt, not only by the members of his family but by all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his death his widow and nine children as well as a countless number of friends and acquaintances. They sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Timber Lake on Sunday afternoon with Rev. E. H. Jarman officiating. Interment was made in the Timber Lake Cemetery.
