Clarice Clover Masterson, 94, of Piedmont, died Tuesday, December 1, 1997, at the Greenwood County Hospital.
She was born October 10, 1903, at Severy, the daughter of Jefferson M. and Nancy (Fudge) Love. A lifetime resident of Greenwood County, Clarice attended rural grade schools and was a graduate of Piedmont High School in the class of 1921. Following her graduation, she received normal training and became a school teacher in the rural grade schools of Greenwood and Elk counties. She continued her own education during her career and graduated from Emporia State Teachers College with a degree in elementary education. Clarice retired in 1968 following 47 years of teaching.
She was a longtime member of the Piedmont United Methodist Church and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, along with being involved in several organizations and clubs in the Piedmont community.
Clarice is survived by three sons, Don Masterson and his wife Pauline of Ft. Worth, Texas, R. D. Masterson of Yucaipa, Calif., and Tom Masterson and his wife Donna of Meridian, Idaho; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 5th at the Campbell-Kelley Funeral home in Eureka with Reverand Donald Harper, pastor of the Piedmont United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in the South Lawn Cemetery at Severy.
A memorial has been established in her name with the Prairie Hills Health Care Center Activity Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the Funeral home.
