Dorothy E. Torbert, 77, of rural Oquawka, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 21, 1989, at her home. Born Feb. 12, 1912, in Canton, Ill., she was the daughter of Omar and Lydia Plank Pettit. She was a homemaker and had been employed with the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Middletown, for several years. She was of the Protestant faith. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Blaylock, Donnellson, Ill., and Mrs. Barbara Gallagher, Burlington; two sons, Richard Blake and George Blake, both of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel. The service for Mrs. Torbert will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Prugh's Chapel with Rev. William S. Trump Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
