The funeral services of Mrs. Anna Flax (better known as Grandma Flax) were held Sunday afternoon at the St. Aloysius Church. She was 83 years of age. She leaves to mourn her death, 12 children, 81 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Ness Co. News, Aug. 16, 1951

OBITUARY
Mrs. Anna Flax, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Honas, was born January 16, 1868, in Bukovina, Rumania, and departed her life at the home of her son, Joe Flax, near Ransom, on August 10, 1951, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 25 days. She was united in marriage to Paul Flax in 1880 in Bukovina, Rumania. To this union 13 children were born, 10 sons and two daughters. One son preceded her in death.Mr. and Mrs. Flax came to America in 1901, where they homesteaded near Ellis, Kansas, until 1908 when they moved to WaKeeney. In 1910 they moved to a farm near Ransom. Then on January 16, 1925, her husband preceded her in death. After his death she lived on the farm for 26 years before her health failed and she made her home with her children who care for her until her death. She leaves to mourn her, 12 children: Ignatz, Albert, Frank, Paul and Leo of Ellis; Joe, Godfrey, Rudolph, John, Willard and Mrs. Catherine Kisslinger of Ransom; and Mrs. Regina Augustine of Salina; one brother, Joe Honas of Ellis; 81 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends. Grandma Flax, as she was known to her friends, was the oldest member of the St. Aloysius Church at Ransom, and a member of the Altar Society, and was received into the confraternity of the Christian Mothers a few months before her death. Funeral services were held from the St. Aloysius Church at Ransom on Sunday, August 13, with Father Hubert Kremer in charge.
