Vermont Adjutant General. Flint was three years old when his family moved to Randolph. He completed only a basic education before the death of his father required him to take over operation of the family farm. Flint helped raise and equip a company for the War of 1812, was its second in command with the rank of First Lieutenant, and served in Plattsburgh during the British invasion. In 1816 he lost the sight in his right eye during a prolonged illness, but after his recovery he resumed management of his farm. Flint was originally one of Vermont's leading Masons, but in the 1830s he became one of the leaders of the growing anti-Masonic movement. From 1831 to 1835 he served in the Vermont House of Representatives, and in 1836 he was a member of the Governor's Council. In the mid-1830s he also served as Adjutant General, though the exact term of his appointment is not known. From 1841 to 1844 he served as Orange County Assistant Judge. Flint continued to operate his farm into the 1850s.
