Nathaniel Robert Hurst, son of Richard Hurst and Kathleen Hurst, formerly Lomax, was born on 4 June 1891, at 7 Mountjoy Cottages, Dublin.
His father was a Prison Warder.
In the 1901 census, the Hurst family were living at Balllyforgan, Kilflyn, Co. Limerick, (south of Kilfinnane).l
Present were,
Richard Hurst, aged 42, a 1st class Prison Warder (retired), a Lodge Keeper, married, born in Co. Cork.
Kathleen, his wife, aged 37, married,
Elizabeth, daughter, aged 15,
Joseph, son, aged 13,
Nathaniel, son, aged 9,
Irene, daughter, aged 5,
George, son, aged 3,
In the 1911 census, the Hurst family were living at 54, Upper Sackville Street, Dublin (now known as Upper O'Connell Street).
Present were,
Kate Hurst, aged 43, a Housekeeper, a widow,
She had 6 children, 5 of whom were still alive.
Elizabeth L., daughter, aged 25, a Chemist's Assistant,
Joseph W., son, aged 23, a Stationer's Assistant,
Nathaniel R., son, aged 20, a Clerk,
Irene K., daughter, aged 15, a Scholar,
George E., son, aged 13, a Scholar,
All present had been born in Co. Dublin.
Nathaniel Robert Hurst, aged 25, a bachelor, a Clerk, died at 54, Upper Sackville Street, Dublin, on 4 April 1917.
The cause of death was Tuberculosis of the Lungs, 6 months, Heart Failure, 5 days, certified.
The informant of his death was Kate Hurst, mother, of 54, Upper Sackville Street, Dublin, who registered it on 5 April 1917.
Corporal Robert Hurst is commemorated on Panel 2 of the Grangegorman Memorial.
