Two teenage brothers were being held on Thursday in the stabbing deaths of their parents and three siblings — ages 12, 7 and 5 — in their home in a suburb of Tulsa, Okla., the police said.

A fourth sibling, a 13-year-old girl, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, the police said, and a fifth sibling, a 2-year-old girl, was unharmed.

An officer working with a police dog found the suspects, Robert Bever, 18, and his 16-year-old brother, whose name was not released, hiding in a wooded area behind the home about an hour after the killings, the police said. They did not resist arrest. In a booking photograph, Mr. Bever appears to have scratches on his face.

The police have not offered a possible motive for the killings. “I don’t know that we as rational people can understand how you could have a motive to kill the people that raised you and your siblings,” Cpl. Leon Calhoun of the Broken Arrow, Okla., police said.

David Bever, 52, and April Bever, 44, and their children lived in a well-to-do neighborhood in Broken Arrow surrounded by a golf course. The names of the slain children — two boys, 12 and 7, and a 5-year-old girl — were not released.

After receiving a 911 call in which no one spoke, believed to have been placed by the injured girl, officers arrived at the home shortly after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the police said. Officers could not enter through the front door but heard moaning inside and forced their way in.

Once inside, they found the injured 13-year-old first and dragged her outside in case any attackers were still in the house, the police said. They did the same with two other victims, not knowing if they were dead or alive, and found three more bodies inside the home.

The suspects used several “blade-type” weapons, including a hatchet, Corporal Calhoun said.

The 13-year-old girl underwent surgery on Thursday and emerged in serious but stable condition, Corporal Calhoun said. She and her 2-year-old sister were taken into protective custody.
