He married Sarah McCain Knott in 1893. 1900 Census they are living Pct 3, West Town, McLennan, TX. They had one son, Claud Charles Hampton in 1894. Sarah died in 1918 and Ruben went to live with Claud and his family in Hill County, TX. He was there in the 1920 census. He died before the 1930 Census but his death certificate has not been located. Claud and family continued to live in Hill County until his death and then they moved to California.
