Williams, who was born in St Vincent and moved to England when he was 13, made his county debut for Middlesex in 1982. He was an accurate medium-fast bowler and an integral part of the side that won Championships in 1982, 1985, 1990 and 1992. Williams also played three seasons for Windward Islands in the Caribbean and one season with Tasmania in 1983-84. A deeply religious man, when he first arrived at Lord's he refused to play on Sundays.
He was the coach of St Vincent's Academy for Kids at the time of his death.
In a first class career spanning over 17 years he took 675 wickets and scored 4457 runs.

He is buried on the Island of St Vincent in the Kingston Cemetery.
