87, of Brooksville, passed away on Tuesday, May 4th. He was born on February 23, 1923 in Rivesville, WV and was the son of Russell Gale Stewart and Bertha Morris Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lenora Marshall Stewart of Brooksville; two sons, Ron and his wife Susie of Williamsburg, VA; and John Scott and his wife Kathleen of Batavia, OH; four grandchildren, Megan Stewart of Mons, Belgium, Andy Stewart of Williamsburg, VA, Kathleen Stewart McPeek and her husband Kevin of Milford, OH and Len Stewart Martin and her husband Jim, of West Chester, OH, and three great grandchildren; a brother Ralph Stewart of Tucson, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Ruth Stewart Rine, of Morgantown, WV.
He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy and was a retired professional firefighter of Arlington County, VA. He was a 32nd degree master Mason, a member of the Brookridge Country Club and Elks Lodge 2582, Brooksville.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8th at Mariner United Methodist Church, 7079 Mariner Boulevard, Spring Hill. The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donations in John's name to HPH Hospice, 12260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613.

His cremated remains were placed in the cemetery on July 20, 2010 with military honors.
