Jeanette Oss was born December 24, 1926 at Lansford, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Elsie Oss. She was reared and educated in Lansford and graduated from Lansford High School. She then attended Minot Business College in Minot.
On April 20, 1949 she married Richard Backes in Glenburn. Richard and Jeanette had 3 children, Jackie, Rick and Scott. Another child died at birth. They made their home on the family farm Northwest of Glenburn until 1968 when they moved into Glenburn. They lived there until health problems caused them to become residents of the Trinity Homes in Minot.
She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Emerson; sons Rick and Scott; five grandchildren; brothers, Donald and Kenny. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Swede and a half sister.
