Retired LTC John G. Farmer, IV, 81, of 2714 Sue Mack Drive, Columbus, died Sunday at his residence. Private services were held at the Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning GA, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus.
LTC Farmer was born November 14, 1914, in Lewistown, MO; son of John G Farmer, III and Roma Moore Farmer. He was a United States Army veteran.
He is a direct descendent, 7th great grandson, of patriot Daniel Boone and Rebecca Bryan Boone.
Survivors include his wife, Glen Adele Farmer of Columbus; two daughters, Linda and Carolyn; one sister, Marian Pelton of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
