Mrs. Emily Brady, Resident of State Home Here, Dies - Funeral Services Held This Morning; Burial Will Be at Vermillion
Funeral services were held here this morning for Mrs. Emily Brady, who died Wednesday, and the body, accompanied by her son, Clarence Brady, and her daughter, Mrs. Lucy Culligan, was taken to Vermillion today for burial.
Emily Zoe Chaussee Brady was married to James M. Brady at Vermillion, S.D., in 1870, and went to Oregon state in 1872.
In 1881, they returned to Vermillion, coming to the Black Hills in 1886, where they ranched until 1904. At that time they came to Hot Springs, Mr. Brady dying in 1917. Mrs. Brady became a member of the state home following her husband's death.
She died, well provided with the last sacraments, at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Services were held at St. Anthony's church this morning, the Rev. Fr. F. X. Haeusler officiating at the mass and delivering the sermon.
She had six children. Two are living—Mrs. Lucy Culligan and Clarence Brady of Hot Springs. There are six grandchildren and three great grandchildren also surviving. Mrs. Culligan and Mr. Brady are expected to return Monday or Tuesday from Vermillion.
