SAVANNAH - Mr. S. Thomas Anderson, 82, of Savannah, GA quietly passed away December 23, 2014 at The Place at Pooler. He was born in Erie, PA, April 12, 1932, son of the late Drs. Samuel Lackey Anderson and Marion Weidman Anderson, and he spent the majority of his childhood in the town of Northeast, PA. Mr. Anderson graduated from Northeast High School. He earned his BS in Business Administration from Penn State University and an Aerospace Engineering degree from the University of Florida. He pledged Delta Tau Delta while attending Penn State.

Mr. Anderson has lived in Savannah since 1974. Tom served in the US Navy as a Top Gun pilot and flew several classified missions during the Korean War. He worked for Pratt & Whitney, General Dynamics, and the Corps of Engineers. Mr. Anderson retired from the Corps of Engineers in 1999 after 28 years of service. Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by 2 ex-wives, Jo Ellen McKee, and Rosella Sveda Anderson. Survivors include 2 sons, Jeffrey McKee of Erie PA, and Steven Thomas Anderson of O'Fallon, MO, and a daughter, Dr. Christine Anderson Kreide, of Pooler, GA; 4 grandchildren, Conner Anderson Kreide, Camden Jeffrey Kreide, Kendal Walter Kreide, and Kelsey Rose Kreide. Tom was a 50+ year member of the North East, PA Lodge #399 and Delta Tau Delta. He earned the rank of Master Mason (3rd degree) December 23, 1953. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Temple until his health declined. Tom volunteered for a number of years at Hospice Savannah after his retirement. He felt strongly about spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and he wanted everybody to know that he was a born again Christian. Mr. Anderson enjoyed many hobbies including building models and slot cars. He enjoyed railroad cars, but his true passion was building fast cars. He was precise in every action and he enjoyed an occasional race challenge. His nick name was Mr. Super Duty after working on Trans Ams. He enjoyed showing cars and attending NASCAR races.

The family wishes to thank the exceptional staff at The Place at Pooler, who cared for him like a family member. The family also wishes to thank Hospice Savannah for all the wonderful assistance. Remembrances may be made in Tom's name in the form of donations to Calvary Baptist Temple, the Alzheimer's Association , and Hospice Savannah. Tom will be laid to rest in Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.
