Lt. D.M. McCrary

Lt. Douglas MacArthur McCrary, 24, of 9 Tawba Lane, Berea, was killed in action in Vietnam thursday, Feb. 16.

Born in Greenville Mar. 13, 1942, he was a son of Wayman H. and Thelma Armstrong McCrary of White Horse Road. He finished Berea High School in 1960 and graduated from Clemson University in 1965.

He entered service Nov. 28, 1965 and was serving in the U.S. Army's 5th Btn, 7th Cavalry of the 1st Calvary Division. He had been serving in the war zone in Vietnam for six months and two days.

He was a member of Berea Friendship Methodist Church.

Surviving also are his wife, Mrs. Vivian Williams McCrary; a daughter, Allison McCrary of Greenville and two brothers, Roger K. McCrary and W.H. McCrary of Greenville.

Funeral services will be conducted at Berea Friendship Methodist Church at 4 pm Frieday by Rev. M.L. Meadors, Jr. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be M.W. Bashor Jr., I. Henry Philpot, Jr., W.D. Coleman, J.W. Smith, Jr., J. Thomas Jones, Jr., Joseph B. Keller, M.W. Poole and James Blakely.

The body was expected to arrive in Greenville yesterday and will be carried to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayman H. McCrary on White Horse Road, at 2 pm today.

Funeral arrangements are by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.
