Army Spec. 4 Johnny Gene Reid, 20, formerly of Greenville, died April 30, as a result of wounds received in action in Vietnam.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Johnny H. and Doris Badger Reid, Jr., of Augusta , Ga. Most of his life had been spent in Greenville before entering service in Jan. 1967.
He was serving with the 9th Infantry Regiment.
Spec. reid was a 1965 graduate of Berea High School, and was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church.
Surviving also are his wife, Mrs. Diannie Calloway Reid of Augusta; a daughter, Gena Reid of the home; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny H. reid, Sr. of Greenville.
The body is being returned to Greenville for funeral service and burial.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announed by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.
