Opal was born in Fargo, North Dakota as the first of seven children born to Belvin and Agnes Rudland. She grew up on a farm near Glenburn, North Dakota. She married Ira Johnson and they had three children: Ross of Palge, Texas, Dennis of Alexandria, Minnesota and Pamela of Tucson, Arizona. She raised her children working 10 hours a day six days a week in a grocery store in Glenburn, North Dakota. In 1977 she married Del Johnston and moved to Douglas, Wyoming. After being widowed she moved to Tucson, Arizona to be near her daughter. She worked as a campus monitor for the Tucson Unified School District for 17 years and retired at the young age of 72. She has lived the last 23 years at Far Horizons East where she leaves behind many dear and loyal friends. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Edna, Joyce and Al, along with 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
